World Osteoporosis Day this year is Build Better Bones

The theme for the World Osteoporosis Day this year is Build Better Bones.  CanEVA Health Corp strives to provide supplements that assist in joint health, build muscle mass and increase mobility.

This year we decided to take the quiz “osteoporosis awareness”. Thinking I knew it all, I was surprised to find that Osteoporosis usually has no signs or symptoms until a bone breaks.  However, there is one ‘sign’ which may suggest you have osteoporosis and should be tested. The sign is: Height loss of more than 4 cm or 1.5 inches which can signify a possible spine fracture, especially if accompanied by back pain and/or a curved back. If you notice height loss you should speak to your doctor and ask for a bone-health check-up.

Another answer I got incorrect was: “Experts recommend a minimum of how many minutes of daily physical activity to maintain bone health.” I thought I could keep my bones healthy with a daily 20-minute walk, but the right answer was “Although recommendations vary, many experts recommend a minimum of 30-40 minutes of weight-bearing and resistance exercise three or four times per week to maintain good bone health. Physical activity is a vital to maintaining strong bones and muscles at all ages!

There are 10 more questions I haven’t answered for you, but recommend you take the quiz.  Are you ready to get the facts on osteoporosis?
