It is hard to believe that not too long ago, Pet Stores were the largest retail sales leaders for buying cats and dogs. Large chain stores have long since given up the practice of selling puppies sourced from puppy mills and kept in tiny cages behind glass for consumers to view and/or purchase. The practice of selling pets this way is almost abolished however, some small, independent stores still sell puppies and kittens. Please do your research before you buy a puppy. Check out the breeder thoroughly, visit more then once, don’t get pressured into taking home a puppy and if the parents are not there, be aware! Please check out your local shelter before heading out to buy a puppy or kitten. There are thousands of animals looking for their forever home. Avoid purchasing a puppy or kitten from a Pet Store, the history and health of an undocumented puppy will always be of question and may cost you more in time and money for an unhealthy puppy with no guarantees.
