CanEVA PET and the Bernese Mountain Dog

Bernese Mountain dogs have long been known to suffer from elbow osteochondrosis as well as from other forms of elbow dysplasia (Wind 1982, LaFond et al 2002).  The condition appears to be affect the elbow joint by putting too much weight on certain areas of the joint, abnormal growth patterns, and/or arthritis.  Elbow dysplasia needs to be confirmed by your veterinarian with a visual inspection, gait examination and confirmation of swelling around the joint.  Often surgery can be the only resolution to the problem but supplementing your dog with CanEVA PET may help to strengthen the joint, improve mobility of the area and most importantly, help with muscle mass in post-surgery recovery.

Always check with your veterinarian if you see your dog exhibiting signs of elbow dysplasia, the sooner the condition is treated the less long-term damage may occur to other parts of the body that are compensating for the injury.
