CanEVA PEOPLE on the court – What is all the buzz about Pickleball?

Pickleball was actually invented in 1965 on Bainbridge Island in Washington Sate.  This racquet/paddle sport combines elements of tennis, badminton and squash.  The court is smaller than a tennis court, yet larger than a squash court and 2 to 4 players can play. The polymer ball is perforated with tiny holes and the net is similar to tennis but the paddles resemble a larger version of a table tennis racquet.

Pickleball has spread expeditiously through community centres, public parks, health clubs and senior centres.  The rules are also similar to other racquet sports in that: the ball must always stay inbounds, only one bounce per side, the serve is at the baseline and cannot land in the no-volley zone, and the game is finished at 11 or 15 points.

The sport requires stability of the ankle, knee and hip joint as well as range of motion of the shoulder and stability of the elbow. The size of the court also gives the heart a work out and is a great form of cardio for people who want to move more then table tennis yet not as much as tennis.  If you are about to begin to explore Pickleball, remember to gauge on how your body reacts, do not over exert yourself initially and work up to the powerhouse serve.

Supplementing with CanEVA PEOPLE can help boost your energy, keep your joints healthy and keep you swinging.
